Home Goods Shopping Tips

There’s nothing itens basicos de casa like a weekend spent at HomeGoods, rummaging through the shelves and testing out those chairs. The off-price retailer has a knack for stocking up on everything from high-end sheets to decorative vases and throw blankets that elevate a room without breaking the bank. While luck plays a big part in finding a great deal, there are some tricks that savvy shoppers swear by to score the best finds before someone else gets their hands on them.

Get on a first name basis with store managers

Interior stylist and HomeGoods Featured Finder Jenny Reimold recommends getting on a first-name basis with your local HomeGoods manager or staff member. “Let them know what you’re looking for and find out when they typically receive shipments,” she says. She also recommends checking out multiple locations to see if one has more of what you’re in the market for.

Don’t be afraid to ask for a discount

If you spot an item with a minor defect (like a chip in a ceramic lamp or a scuffed frame on artwork) don’t walk away. HomeGoods employees are often willing to offer a price adjustment, especially if you’re not the only one who’s found the piece in question.

But don’t get too carried away with the discounted items, Reimold warns. “Some things aren’t worth the lower price tag if they’re going to be a pain to own in the long run, such as a flimsy shower curtain or a cheap-looking bedsheet that you’ll eventually have to replace,” she says.
